Seven Words
I’ll bet good money that when George Carlin first did his bit on “7 words” that Merry Christmas was never even a contender for that piece of comedic genius. It amazes me to this day that the same people that can easily accept words like “assisted suicide, sexting, and my favorite, bail-out” will still go out of time when someone says Merry Christmas. “You should say Happy Holidays” one lady responded to me the other day. “Might I ask why?” I inquired. “You might offend someone” she responded, incredulous that I did not instinctively understand. This type of thing is almost as confusing as “blue food”.
Amazing, I mean if you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanza, or festivus, let me be the first to say “Enjoy!” Just because I do not celebrate those events does not mean that I can’t handle you celebrating them. I’m pretty sure that I’m made of stern enough stuff that your holiday greeting will not offend my sense of well being. Those that tout free speech, freedom of expression, and tolerance are remarkably intolerant of Merry Christmas. I know that most of the issue stems from the root of the word Christ, and the need to make sure that we keep this terrorist name not only out of schools and government offices, but also out of the public eye. I mean really what would happen if God forbid somebody actually started copy catting this guys actions. The last thing we need is someone trying to comfort and help someone with aids or worse, protect a whore from a bunch of self righteous people trying to kill her. Feed the poor indeed, how dare you pray before distributing that food to them, trying to infect them with your ideas.
Folks, relax. Merry Christmas will always be around. You will not be able to get that completely sanitized from the culture nor should you. I am the worst Christian on the face of the planet, but even as a Christian I don’t have a problem with you celebrating whatever your faith or non faith traditions are. You can be a Druid, Muslim, Catholic, or an Atheist for all I care. The rule is “You choose this day whom you shall serve” You, not me. This is still America, at least for now, and in America we all get to exercise our freedoms. Quit trying to control them or limit them, because if you succeed in getting rid of something that offends you personally, how long before something or someone you love offends another portion of the people? Then maybe next time it’s your tradition that is “incorrect”.
Until next time, make good decisions. Merry Christmas!

The more all those celebration become commercial, the more I stay away.
I only like Thanksgiving for its meaning of gratitude and lack of religious affiliation.
Have a very Happy New Year (that is another one I like)

This "issue" drives me nuts. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Holidays to all.
